Guidelines for the Solar Oven

- There is not a lot of evaporation from the solar oven- most dishes require less liquid.
- Amount of time for cooking depends on the sun. Give the food plenty of time. Because the solar oven doesn't achieve burning temperatures,
you can put the dish in and let it go while you work on other things.
- Re-orient the oven about every 45 minutes towards the sun, so that the oven’s shadow is directly behind the stove, with the sun reflecting through the glass.
- Extra time will often make up for higher temperatures
*If the food is not cooking (clouds appear or the sun goes down), the temperature can become a perfect temperature for pathogens to take
over. Partially cooked foods should be removed and cooked in a nonsolar way (wood, gas, etc.)
